Celebrity’s and privacy…

Something which interests the whole world is to read some private information about actors, sportsman and all other public figures.

Is it fair for content publishers to do so? Is it fair we people to show interest in this?

I would be irresponsible to say 'It's not fair!' and still keep reading about it. For sometime I thought these people deserve privacy and it's not fair to intrude into it. Of late I started thinking otherwise. Reason, they are paid for it. So, it's not fair for an actor or sportsman to ask reporters & people to respect their privacy.

If our cricketers earn crores it's not only for their game (which they don't have much anyway) but also to keep us entertain off the fields as well. Given they earn more on advertising rather playing on ground, it's more or less fair.

Same holds for actors as well. Time has changed, we are in the world where we pay them to keep us interested & entertained rather paying if we are satisfied. By the way movies & music should have return policy like books & electronics..

Any objections?

Import iTunes library with ratings to Rhythmbox

What I'm still troubled using Ubuntu is an nice media player with library support. Rhythmbox lacks features which banshee has. But, I definitely don't want to get stuck with an mono application. Surely hope, rhythmbox gets better over time.

One feature where banshee beats rhythmbox is to import iTunes library. If rhythmbox  had done that, it would had been so better given their UI is inspired from iTunes.

Google lead to me couple of sites & one had an python script which unfortunately didn't work for me. So, I decided to do things on my own and for my good both iTunes & rhythmbox use XML files to save library info. That made my life easier.

One thing XSL doesn't do is file paths. So, replace all windows drive with Linux mount points manually.

On Ubuntu run,
xsltproc iTunes_to_rhythm.xsl "iTunes Music Library.xml" > rhythmdb.xml
to run XSL.

Finally place the file in ~/.local/share/rhythmbox folder and start rhythmbox.

Seems to be working fine for me. Let me know of any issues, will try to fix.

Pat Robertson says Haiti paying for 'pact to the devil' -

Another shame to Christianity. Who cares what he thinks and make it look like as an God's opinion. People like him are shame to any religions. Had he done anything useful for the people suffering in all poor countries. Haiti is another poor country. So, it's better he keeps his mouth shut.

IMO, UK & Europe should be the countries totally destroy for all what they had done to most of Africa & Asia in the name of colonies.

STARTING: A 20-Year Mini Ice Age?

The bitter winter afflicting much of the Northern Hemisphere is only the start of a global trend towards cooler weather that is likely to last for 20 or 30 years, say some of the world’s most eminent climate scientists.

Their predictions – based on an analysis of natural cycles in water temperatures in the Pacific and Atlantic oceans – challenge some of the global warming orthodoxy’s most deeply cherished beliefs, such as the claim that the North Pole will be free of ice in summer by 2013.

According to the US National Snow and Ice Data Centre in Colorado, Arctic summer sea ice has increased by 409,000 square miles, or 26 per cent, since 2007 – and even the most committed global warming activists do not dispute this.

Brr. I don’t want a mini ice age.

Global warming...

then climate change...

now mini ice age? But, I heard Canada isn't as cold this winter as it used to be.

Whatever may be, my winter stay in Canada is going cool....

Why not Frozen hell?

Why hell has to be a burning place? Why not freezing?

Any explanations? Only thing I could think of is more accidents happen due to fire rather than snow/ice!!

Fire accidents are so common including forest fire. Is there anything else?

Will Schrödinger’s cat Stink?

Schrödinger wrote:
One can even set up quite ridiculous cases. A cat is penned up in a steel chamber, along with the following device (which must be secured against direct interference by the cat): in a Geiger counter, there is a tiny bit of radioactive substance, so small that perhaps in the course of the hour, one of the atoms decays, but also, with equal probability, perhaps none; if it happens, the counter tube discharges, and through a relay releases a hammer that shatters a small flask of hydrocyanic acid. If one has left this entire system to itself for an hour, one would say that the cat still lives if meanwhile no atom has decayed. The psi-function of the entire system would express this by having in it the living and dead cat (pardon the expression) mixed or smeared out in equal parts.

My question will that cat stink, if dead? If it stinks then there is no paradox nor parallel universe. So, What's the point? Am I getting anything wrong here?

There is no alternate reality, just one!!!!
